Renovation & Construction Loans

Renovation & Construction Loans

Financing renovations and construction

Some programs combine an eligible purchase or refinance with renovation financing. Examples include agency renovation products, subject to current program availability. New construction may require a separate construction loan.

Scope of work, contractor approval, permits, appraisal, contingency reserves and draw inspections can affect eligibility and timing. Cosmetic renovations, major rehabilitation and ground-up construction are not interchangeable programs.

Discuss the project before signing a construction contract. Confirm which costs are eligible and how payments, completion deadlines and any permanent financing will work.
